25th Drukrig Colloquium

Determinants of symptomatic COVID-19 in Phuentsholing

Date : July 20, 2022

This session investigates the key factors contributing to symptomatic COVID-19 cases in Phuentsholing, one of Bhutan's major border towns. Phuentsholing, with its high level of cross-border traffic and dense population, became a focal point during the pandemic. The session explores various determinants, such as demographic factors, underlying health conditions, vaccination rates, and social behaviors, that influence the severity and prevalence of symptomatic cases in the region. It also examines the effectiveness of public health measures, community response, and the role of local healthcare systems in managing and mitigating the impact of the virus. By analyzing these factors, the session provides valuable insights into how Phuentsholing and other similar regions can better prepare for and respond to future health crises.
